14K Gold Wire for Violin Bow Wrapping.
30 feet of Yellow Gold Wire. Diameter is .010" which is .25 mm.
This length of 30 feet is more than adequate for winding a violin, viola or cello bow. A master bow maker suggested that one start the winding under the thumb grip. Allow for about 12mm or more of the thumb grip to have no wire beneath it. Working in this fashion you should have wire left over and your added weight on a violin bow would be about 5.3g. On viola it would be about 5.6 grams and on cello it would be about 5.9 g.
