For best use on fresh (un-rosined) hair:
Apply a thorough amount of rosin along the whole length of hair until much powder is produced. Then gradually remove rosin from the bow hair with a clean, dry cloth until the ultimate balance between traction and sound is achieved.

For best ongoing use:
Apply only 3 to 5 slow and long strokes to the hair, using a cloth to remove any excess when noticed.
